Legislative session and snowstorm

Yesterday the Minnesota Legislature was still in session when we had really nasty snowstorm. Several schools was closed early and after school activities was cancelled expect for St. Paul and Minneapolis school districts.

If I was Governor, I would order the legislature to end for the day and cancel all post session activities for safety. What was Gov. Pawlenty thinking?

What do you think we should just send legislators home when nasty snowstorm hit? Should we cancel post session activities?

Reminder to Minneapolitans: Go to your caucus!

Its friendly reminder for Minneapolis folks: Don't forget to go to your precinct caucus next week on Tuesday March 3. I will post more information at later date as I find out more details.

A former Student Senator has own website and it’s still running.

After leaving Inver Hills Student Senate in 2007, former Student Senator Rachel Eggert still has her website up and running. It used to be one click information to Students’ needs for service from Student Senate but since she left the Senate, she changed the website to keep people updated on what she have been doing since she left the office. It does still have information on where college students can get information regarding issues that they need.

At some point, Eggert will return to the Senate once when she returns to Inver Hills or seeking higher office in the future.

Mayor Rybak to officially kick off his third term campaign

Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak who is in his second term is going to officially announce that he will be running for third term as Mayor. There were rumors flying around that he would run for Governor next year or being appointed to an important post in Obama-Biden Administration. Both rumors turned out to be false. Now we know that Rybak is seeking third term so we don’t have to worry what is his next step.

His kick-off event will be at Riverview Theatre at 9:15 to 11:30AM tomorrow (Saturday) . The address is 3800 42nd Avenue South in Minneapolis. The theatre is accessible on busline.

Many of you may remember he formally announced his candidacy on Facebook and Youtube. You could find it here.

What a surprise in Minneapolis’ Mayor race

Most of us thought that Minneapolis RT Rybak would not have an opponent but it turned out he does. His name is Bob Miller, a Director for Neighborhood Revitalization Program (NRP) in Minneapolis. It was very surprising news a day before Rybak’s announcement for third term running as Mayor.

There may be more but have to wait and see. In 2005 Hennepin County Peter McLaughlin ran against Rybak for DFL endorsement but none was endorsed.

Congrats to Pittsburgh Steelers!

We at Rach's Political Report want to congratulate Pittsburgh Steelers a great victory at the 2009 Super Bowl!

It was very close game but at least during the end of game they made it to beat Arizona Cardinals.

Hope that Steelers or Minnesota Vikings go to next year's Super Bowl.

Yes Rachel do have Terrible Towel that she got as souvenir when she went to Pittsburgh in March 2006 on her vacation. Besides Terrible Towel, she do have a hoodie sweater as well and she was proud to wear it today.
